LSM July 30 Invite

LSM Trikke Ride
Summer in full swing

The LSM in May, 2011, attracted 45 trikkers, a record for a three-wheel centric event in Southern Cal. The LSM in June, 2011, attracted 41 trikkers, making it the second most attended Trikke event in Southern Cal.

Join So Cal Carver's to celebrate prime trikking season in Southern California with the Last Saturday of the Month Ride on July 30th, 2011, in Long Beach. Entry Fee is one can food item to be donated to the Food Bank of Southern California.

The LSM is a monthly play-date for So Cal carvers sponsored by SouthBay Trikke and TrikkeWorld Magazine. Think of it as a three-wheel playground where you can carve among friends, meet new friends and speak “Trikke” with others who understand the language.

At 9am, the fun starts with a “Warm Up to the Carve Up,” featuring demos for newbies with tips for current riders from Trikke Academy guru's Fred Welch and Andy Pliska. Plus, strike a pose on your Trikke for photographer Sean Tice of SouthBay Trikke, and we’ll turn it into your own personal TrikkeWorld Magazine cover.

At 10am, the rock ‘n’ roll party begins with a group ride along the coastal wonders of Long Beach, from Shoreline Village to Rainbow Lagoon (aka the Pond), to the Lighthouse and the beach bike path (or as we like to call it, the Trikke Track).

At Trikkers Landing on Naples Peninsula, the rock ‘n’ roll party takes a break with a temporary Chill Zone for those who want to relax, and an experimental competition or two for those who want to participate.

After that, it’s a Race to the Finish for riders who want to race back to Shoreline Village, or simply an open riding session back to Shoreline Village for riders who don’t wish to race.

Anyway you carve it up, the Last Saturday’s for you, So Cal carvers, so join the fun and start your summer trikking season among friends at the LSM in Long Beach on July 25th, 2011.

LSM "Last Saturday of the Month Ride"

New Monthly Event for So Cal Trikkers

The newfangled, three-wheeled “bike” called the Trikke has become so popular in Southern California, local trikkers now have their very first regularly scheduled play date: the Last Saturday of the Month Ride, with the next one slated for Saturday, March 26, 2011.

“It's a chance for trikkers to get together on the playground and play like kids,” according to Randy Boyd, publisher of TrikkeWorld Magazine, co-sponsors of the event along with SouthBay Trikke, So Cal's largest local Trikke dealer.

“Throughout the year, we sponsor group rides that have a definitive start time, a planned route and more overall structure,” said Boyd. “For the LSM (Last Saturday of the Month), we wanted to maintain a more loose atmosphere, as well as create a regular space where trikkers can have fun with other trikkers, on and off the Trikke.”

To that end, the LSM will feature a two-hour “open riding” session where riders can come and go at their own pace. Before and after that, the more adventurous can participate in relay races and a hill-climbing competition; and between all the fun and games, trikkers can hang out at the Pit Stop, a place to refuel and socialize. Additionally, trainers from SouthBay Trikke will be on hand to provide demos for would-be trikkers.

The location of the monthly event will alternate between two of the region's trikking hotbeds, Long Beach and the South Bay, with additional areas being considered.

“Getting together with our South Bay and Long Beach trikkers is a real treat,” said Andy Pliska, president of SouthBay Trikke (official local dealer of TrikkeWorld Magazine). “We thought: what could be better than counting on a group Trikke ride every month, all year long? Even better, why not always have it at the same time, so everyone can rely on it?”

The Last Saturday of the Month Ride for March will be held on March 26, in the South Bay from 10am-2:30pm. The Pit Stop opens at 10am at Miramar Park in Torrance Beach. Relay races are scheduled for the first hour. The open riding session runs from 11-1, and the hill-climbing fun begins shortly thereafter. For further details, visit SouthBayTrikke.com.

Trikke & Treat Halloween Poker Run

Trikke & Treat Halloween Poker Run

Saturday, October 30, 2010, 10am

SouthBay Trikkers is proud to announce the Second Annual Halloween Trikke & Treat Ride in Torrance, California.

It's a FREE ride so grab a costume, a Trikke, and fellow rider for a festive cruise along our beautiful coast to see the wonderful decorations along the strand. Everyone is dressed up, even the volleyball players are in the holiday spirit. It is incredibly fun and the memories will last forever. Come join us in trikker fellowship... It's Free to Ride!

The Trikke & Treat Ride kicks off at 10am from Miramar Park, at the south end of the Esplanade Torrance Beach and travel along the strand heading north. will loop up to the end of Hermosa Beach Strand and return.

As an option to commemorate the 2nd Annual Trikke & Treat Ride, we have an amazing package deal offer. Complete with T-shirt, Lunch, and entry to the Poker Run for the Grand Prize of a Trikke Hydration Pack.  All this for $20. Now that's a great deal right!

There will also be a prize for the best costume and entry into the raffle at no cost. Don't be shy, be creative!

And for those of you who cannot make the ride but would still like to purchase a shirt, we have made them available to you. Shirts will ship the week of Halloween. T-Shirt only is $15. (add $2 if shipping) You can always come by and pick up your shirt to save on costs.

Join us for the ride. Remember there is NO FEE to ride.

The ride will begin from check point 1 (starred on the map), Miramar Park, Torrance at 10am. We will head north along the strand to Redondo Beach Pier. We walk through the pedestrian area, then mount our Trikke's back on the path through the open garage towards the 2nd check point Cap'n Kidds.

Here we cross the street and travel north along Hermosa Ave. This is a very wide area to carve for all of us. At Herondo Ave, we hop back across the street onto the strand and move to check point 3, Hermosa Beach Pier.

We continue to the end of the Hermosa strand and stop for photos. Some may want to go to Manhattan Beach pier, thats an option once we get there for whomever wants it. From here it's pretty much everything in reverse.

Now the check points keep ascending in order at the same spots. ie. Check points 1&6, 2&5, 3&4 are all the same. Hope that makes sense. The loop as you see it is 9mi round trip, close to 12mi if you include Manhattan Beach.

The Terrain is relatively flat since you're at the beach. The wind may pickup on the return trip. There are a couple of great hills at the starting point for whomever wants that challenge. The ride should last about 3 hours.

We will start the ride from the parking lot just south of Miramar Park in Torrance at 10am. This is right on the beach where Hollywood Riviera, Palos Verdes, and Torrance collide. Follow this map for turn by turn directions.
Call my cell if you get lost.. Andy (310) 803-0445.

The Poker Run will be conducted throughout the entire ride. It's very simple and a lot of fun. This is how it will work. Once you've registered at the Pit Stop you'll receive your first card. At every check point along the way, you will receive another card. At the end of the ride you will have 5 cards. At the Pit Stop you will be allowed to exchange cards for a better hand. Then it's Game On! The Trikker with the best hand will carve off into the sunset with an awesome Trikke Hydration Pack!!!
